Eugene White from Rutgers came to speak on November 3rd about the parallels between the Great Depression and the financial crisis of 2007-2009.
Susan Averett from Lafayette College spoke about the economics of obesity on November 11th. Thanks for all those who joined us. On December 4th, we attended a Federal Reserve forum in Philadelphia dealing with lessons of the financial crisis. Greg Mankiw of Harvard, Charles Plosser of the Philadelphia Fed, and James Bullard of the St. Louis Fed, were among the day's speakers. For the spring semester, we will be bringing a number of speakers from nearby colleges, including Louise Russell of Rutgers University, who will be discussing her research in health economics. The club is also planning a trip to the Federal Reserve in New York City, as well as trips to Princeton University for seminars related to economics. |
