Information for Prospective Students
Admission Procedure
All applications are submitted through Graduate Studies
- Apply online by following the application links.
- The program code is SEDV
- Application deadlines:
Fall admission: April 15
January admission: October 15
Application Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited US institution
- NJ teacher certification in elementary education, secondary education, or special education
- 2.75 GPA
- Letters of recommendation
- An essay
- GRE scores
If You Have Missed Application Deadlines
- If you miss the application deadlines you may apply for temporary non-matriculation status.
- Start the online application process described above and select Special Admit Special Education; the program code is SEDZ.
- Special Admit deadlines: August 1 for Fall and December 1 for January
- Up to 6 credits taken under Special Admit non-matriculation status can be applied toward the degree
If You Are in Special Admit Non-Matriculation Status
- Remember, only 6 credits taken under Special Admit non-matriculation status can be applied toward the degree
- After that you must submit a complete application for matriculation before you will be able to take any more courses

- Application deadlines: April 15 for Fall admission; October 15 for January admission

Transfer Credits
Graduate students can transfer credits from courses taken at other institutions if the courses meet the following requirements:
- Course was at the graduate level
- Grade was B or better
- Course was taken within the past 5 years
- Course must be appropriate to the program
- Course must be approved by your advisor
