What is Hydroelectric
Power?
Hydropower uses water to produce electricity.
Water is held behind a dam and in reservoirs and released through an opening.
Water flows through the openings where there is a turbine. The turbine
spins when the water passes by. As the turbine spins it is attached to
a powerhouse where energy is produced.
How
does hydroelectric energy compare?
HYDROPOWER
is the largest renewable resource.
1. Inexpensive
2. Clean
3. Inexhaustible
4. Safe, No fuel is burned
1.In times of
little rainfall less power is produced because of a decrease in pressure
