Results of the 1998 Engineering Alumni Survey

During the Fall 1998 semester, the department of engineering at The College of New Jersey mailed a questionnaire to 122 engineering alumni who graduated from the program in 1997, 1996, 1994, 1992 and 1987.  44 alumni (36.1%) responded to the survey.  The results of the survey are tabulated below

The students were also asked to rate their preparation at TCNJ in the following areas:  Mathematics, Physical Sciences, General Education, Engineering, Technical Electives, Communications Skills, Engineering Currency, Engineering Competence, Engineering Design (Ability), and Team Participation.  The Students were asked to use the following scale to rate the list.

4: Better than needed for any job I have held
3: Good enough to meet most job requirement
2: Marginal – needed much additional study to make the grade
0: Very Poor – far below reasonable expectations – must be improved

Average alumni ratings for the areas surveyed are given in Table 2.
