Hydrology/Water Resources Laboratory

The Hydrology/Water Resources Laboratory provides students with equipment and supplies for studying fluid mechanics and water resources. A pipe network system consisting of five pipes in parallel is used for three separate experiments related to flow measurements and major and minor energy losses in piping systems, a Series/Parallel Pump system is used to create pump-head-curves, a Ground Water Flow Tank equipped with a total of nineteen piezometers is used for measuring ground water movement, a Hydrostatic Bench is used to measure fluid properties, a Reynolds apparatus and laminar flow table are used for flow visualization and an Open Channel Flume (16’ long x 2’ high x 1’ wide) with adjustable slope is used for open channel flow analyses.
