Directions for Using Speakeasy

PART ONE

Go to the SPEAKEASY CAFÉ LOGIN page at

http://speakeasy.wsu.edu

 

1. Type your FIRST INITIAL AND LAST NAME:

e.g. Mary Jones= Mjones (use your entire name, lowercase, without spaces if the first initial and last name does not work.  Otherwise email me.)

 

2. Type in the Password

            “afam” (for the African-American History class) and “history” (for the Foreign Relations class)

Click on  LOG ME IN, PLEASE

 

STEP TWO

You will  now be on the WELCOME page

Read the next to the last paragraph and click on the “hot link” for your USER PROFILE PAGE.  

Fill in ALL OF THE REQUIRED INFORMATION and LIST ONE FAVORITE WEBSITE.

Make sure that you select a profile icon.  Select the icon that best represents you.

If you already have a photo of yourself on the web, put the URL for your photo in the box provided

If you DO NOT have a photo, follow the directions at the SPEAKEASY CAFÉ site for your class.  Those directions will follow.

STEP THREE.

 Click on the button at the bottom of the page and submit your personal profile.

STEP FOUR:

Click on the BACK BUTTON to return to the Login Page.

 

WHEN YOU GET BACK TO THE ORIGINAL LOGIN PAGE, CLICK ON THE HOT LINK  ON THE LEFT THAT SAYS TCNJ-AFAM

This is the page where you will begin activities for this class throughout the semester.  It’s a good idea to bookmark this page so that you’ll be able to reach it with just one mouse click.

 

Click on the first hot-link VISIT THE SPEAKEASY CAFÉ.

You will now be on a page that says “Active  Events and Tables in This Café

The CAFÉ =     Location for writing assignments for my classes.

An EVENT=    A Class.  Each class has its own event number.

Event 1.0- AFAM20101

Event 2.0= AFAM20102

Event 3.0= AFAM28001

Event4.0= AFAM28002

To RECAP

You will ALWAYS go to the Active Events and Tables in the Café  page.

You will ALWAYS  select the event that equals YOUR CLASS SECTION

You will ALWAYS  go to the TABLE that equals the most recent online writing assignment for your class.

           

PART TWO

STEP ONE

 

Click on the hot link for INTRODUCTIONS that appears under the EVENT that equals your class section.

 

MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING THE INTRODUCTION FOR YOUR CLASS.

STEP TWO

Follow the directions that appear on the page.  You will write your replies in the box on the bottom of the page OR you can write your answer in Microsoft Word and copy and paste the text into the box on the website.
