The First Year Experience (FYE) is a comprehensive program of academic and co-curricular activities promoting the successful transition of entering students to college life at TCNJ. Faculty, staff and students working together cultivate the intellectual, social and civic development that creates a challenging, yet supportive environment. Major FYE program components include Freshman Orientation, Summer Readings, Welcome Week, First Seminar, Residential Life Learning Communities, and Civic Engagement.

Important Announcement for 2009 Entering First-Year Students

Please review all the FSPs listed on the FSP website (click on link above).  Be sure to click on titles for full descriptions.  Note the course titles and numbers of each.  Then go into PAWS to place your six selections in your shopping cart.  After selecting "Freshmen Seminar Program (FSP)" and identifying undergraduate, indicate the exact number and use only the first three digits.  That is, use 101, 102, 103, 104, 111, 114, 121-- up to 151.  Do not select 'show open classes only.'  Repeat the process until you have six FSPs in your shopping cart.

As part of the FYE CEL program, students complete a minimum of 8 hours of CEL "work." They do so by participating in a CEL project that has been integrated into their first year seminar (FSP) course, or by attending one of the 50 CEL Days-single days of service and learning that focus on specific community issues.
