My name is Maya, and I’m from Summit, NJ in Union County. I graduated from Summit High School, where I first became interested in Biology. My first Biology class was in my sophomore year, when I had a magnificent teacher who helped me fall in love Biology. Im now a sophomore in the Gateway to Graduate School in Biology program at TCNJ. I have been able to get experience in many different labs where we have studied the gills of crabs, development of Zebra Fish, and birth defects in mice. I have been actively learning my way around the laboratory, and am now a permanent member, shadowing in the Dr. Lovett’s “Crab Lab”. I look forward to the rest of the year in the lab and I hope to research over this summer in MUSE with my peers.
