Rising Sophomores:

• Their writing requirement is fulfilled by WRI 102, FSP 101, and/or IDSC 151. They do not need the sophomore or junior writing course as described in the CAP document because it was not required when they began.  If their major has its senior-level, writing intensive course in place they will take it automatically; otherwise it is waived.

• Their information literacy requirements are waived because no formal process was in place for them this year.  Their speaking requirements are presumed fulfilled through the major.

• Their community based learning requirement is satisfied by First Year Seminar (provided they took it prior to Fall 2004) or Athens to New York.

• The other Civic Responsibilities can be met by any combination of the old and new categories (because we did not have the new system in place this academic year).  These are Western, non-Western, Gender, Race and Ethnic, and Global.

• Their writing requirement is fulfilled by Rhetoric I and II (and Athens to New York).  They do not need the sophomore or junior writing course as described in the CAP document, nor can we require them to complete a senior-level writing intensive course in the major.

• Their speaking and information literacy requirements are fulfilled by Rhetoric I and II.

• Their community based learning requirement is satisfied by Athens to New York (or First Year Seminar—there were three pilot sections in Spring 2003).  We waive the requirement for transfers.

• The other Civic Responsibilities can be met by any combination of the old and new categories (because the new system was not in place for their first two years).  These are Western, non-Western, Gender, Race and Ethnic, and Global.
