WHAT CAN WE RECYCLE?
HEY FRIENDS!  HERE ARE 
SOME OF MY FAVORITE
FACTS ON COMMONLY 
RECYCLED MATERIALS...

1.PAPER (I mean newspaper, office paper, cardboard and other types)
Did you know...
a. 17 trees are saved when one ton of paper is recycled.
b.recovered paper is used to make copier paper, paper towels and napkins, corrugated boxes, and mulch.
c.paper can be either recycled or composted (check out my "what is comosting" page if you want to know more about this)

2.GLASS(bottles and jars)
Did you know...
a.recycling one glass jar saves enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours.
b.all glass food and beverage containers can be recycled.
c.any new glass food jar that you buy contains at least 35% recycled glass.

3.PLASTIC(soda bottles, milk jugs, bags and detergent containers)
Did you know...
a. recycled plastics are made into drainage pipes, toys, carpet, filler for pillows, sleeping bags, and cassette casings.

4.ALUMINUM(beverage cans)
Did you know...
a.recycling aluminum cans saves up to 95% of the energy that would otherwise be used to produce it from raw ore.
b.the time it takes for a can to be made, filled, sold, recycled and remanufactured is only 6 weeks.
c.the average aluminum can in the U.S. is made of 40% recycled aluminum.

5.STEEL(food and beverage cans)
Did you know...
a.steel cans can be recycled into new cans, bicycle frames, and even new cars.

6.MOTOR OIL
Did you know...
a.recycling motor oil would save the U.S. 1.3 million barrels of oil per day.

7.MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS(clothes and furniture)
Did you know...
a.these things can be recycled by donating them to charities, theater groups, and service groups.
b.these groups will either repair and sell them, or use and distribute them.
