SELECTING A PROGRAM AND APPLYING TO STUDY ABROAD
THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO ASSIST STUDENTS WHO ARE TRYING TO DECIDE IF STUDYING ABROAD IS RIGHT FOR THEM, WHICH PROGRAM TO CHOOSE, AND HOW TO GET STARTED ON THOSE FIRST STEPS... READ ON

1. Meet with your academic advisor and make sure you understand what classes and requirements you will need to fulfill while abroad. The Office of International and Off-Campus Programs recommends that if you have the option, you fulfill liberal learning and elective requirements abroad since these requirements usually allow the most flexibility. Make sure to discuss any other considerations specific to your major with your advisor.
2. Review our list of programs and decide which ones interest you. Learn more about specific countries using these links:

3. Attend a study abroad information session. You can find out information about times, dates, and locations on our main page. Students must attend an information session before meeting individually with an advisor
4. Once you have attended an information session, you may desire to schedule an appointment with a study abroad advisor. Study abroad advisors will assist you in choosing a program and answering your specific questions. Study abroad advisors do not perform academic advising. Visit Green Hall 111 to schedule an appointment, call (609) 771-2596, or send an email to goglobal@tcnj.edu.
5. Hopefully you have narrowed down your choices by now. You should determine which programs will be offering the classes that meet the requirements you determined with your advisor in step 1. It will require independant research to determine course offerings at your host university abroad. Start here.
