This would under normal circumstances be Trenton State College's Pep Band
Homepage. However, in the fall 1994 semester, pep band was cut.
I do not think this was a good idea. The pep band -was- made up of a bunch of people, many non-music majors, who had a GREAT time playing in the stands at all the home football games. Many people had been involved in marching band (including several drum majors and section leaders) and wanted to continue this. Since TSC does not have a marching band, and since non-music majors might be too busy to devote time to a marching band, the PEP BAND was a perfect match for them. I had the best time my first two years playing trumpet and my third year on trombone. We had a LOT of fun and got the crowd involved as well! Dr. Silvester of the music department devoted his time and energy to make pep band work. And it did.
I tried with a few others (thanks Erin-Leigh, Ariana, Suky, and you
too Steve for the editorial and anyone else I forgot) to make it all
student run, but there were too many barriers in our way. I do not know
what the plans are regarding pep band for the fall 1995 semester. I will
not be in or near the state to make a difference. If YOU want the pep
band, perhaps you could talk to the music department and the
administration. I heard a rumor that pep band was funded through music
which was through athletics? I don't know how accurate this is, but you
might want to check it out. If anything happens, it will be because you
MADE it happen. Best of Luck.
NOTE: I recently found out that the PEP BAND has been reinstated into The College Of New Jersey! HOORAY!!! I haven't much knowledge about what is going on, but if you are interested, the best starting point would be to see Dr. Sylvester in the music department!
