FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING DESIGN

THIRD TEAM DESIGN PROBLEM ASSIGNMENT
(REVOLUTIONS, CUTS, ROUNDS AND CHAMFERS)

 

1.   Create (in teams of two students) the object at the bottom of this page with the Pro/E software.

2.   Use the revolved protrusion, round, cut and chamfer features.

3.   Select your own English dimensions.

4.   Keep all dimensions in proportion.

5.   Create three default datum planes.

6.   Create a default coordinate system.

7.   Use FRONT DTM as a sketching plane and one other DTM as the reference plane.

8.   Center the main body (a both sides protrusion) over FRONT DTM and RIGHT DTM.

9.   Align the bottom surface to the TOP DTM.

10.   Orient the object with the shaft up and the arch surface parallel to FRONT DTM and facing forward.

11.   Design the object so it looks like the following item.

12.   Place the object on the screen for evaluation.

NOTE: If the design object is not in proportion, is not of the proper appearance or
is not properly oriented, the assignment will be considered not complete.
A failing grade will be awarded.
