FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING DESIGN

FOURTH TEAM DESIGN PROBLEM ASSIGNMENT
(NON-DEFAULT DATUM PLANE)

1.   Create (in teams of two students) the object at the bottom of this page with the Pro/E software.

2.   Use the create datum axis through two planes feature and constraint.

3.   Use the create datum planes through, angle and offset features and constraints.

4.   Select your own English dimensions.

5.   Keep all dimensions in proportion.

6.   Create three default datum planes.

7.   Create a default coordinate system.

8.   Create and use extra (DTM1 & DTM2) datum placement planes.
    Show the two extra datum planes on the part model.

9.   Align the bottom surface to TOP DTM.

10.  Orient the object as illustrated below.

11.  Design the object so it looks like the following item.

12.  Place the object on the screen for evaluation.

NOTE: If the design object is not in proportion, is not of the proper appearance or
is not properly oriented, the assignment will be considered not complete.
A failing grade will be awarded.
