Biographical Information on Dr. Hinitz
I have been a Professor of Elementary and Early Childhood Education
here at The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) since
1978. All three of my degrees are in Early Childhood Education. While studying
for my masters, I did my thesis on educational television programs for
children. I then did my doctoral dissertation on the history of creative
movement in early childhood education from 1920-1970. Some of my past career
positions have included being a public school teacher, team leader and
faculty member at the Philadelphia Community College. I have many research
interests, some of which are: early childhood teacher education, the history
of education, creative arts, social studies (history, geography, economics),
early childhood curriculum and administration and supervision of early
education programs. Outside of teaching, my favorite activity is international
travel and meeting people from around the world. My most recent travels
have landed me in Hawaii, Japan, Alaska, Canada and Israel.
