social scienceHistory majors at the College of New Jersey are prepared to confront the future. They have the perspective to understand today's and tomorrow's significant issues. They also learn how to read critically, write effectively, and speak clearly—key skills for personal success.

The History faculty are nationally recognized teacher-scholars, including recipients of the Bancroft Prize, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and several National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships. Staffing patterns deliberately include the world's major geographic and cultural regions, and cover both the pre-modern and modern eras. Students develop a global perspective.

The College of New Jersey has an unusual profile for a publicly-supported undergraduate institution. It is highly selective and primarily residential. Located in the suburbs of Trenton, the state capital, the college enjoys easy access to New York, Philadelphia, and Princeton.
