Biweekly Earnings Calculation
The State of New Jersey bases the gross biweekly earnings calculation on the number of work days in the fiscal year. The number of work days in a fiscal year for a twelve month employee can vary from 260 through 262 days. In fiscal year 2009, the number of work days are 261. Therefore, in order to calculate the gross biweekly earnings the annual salary is divided by 26.1.
Example:
Fiscal Year 2009 = 261 work days
Biweekly Calculation:
261 Annual Work Days/10 Work Days Per Pay Period = 26.1
Biweekly Earnings:
Annual Salary/ 26.1
Annual Salary:
$30,000/26.1 = $1,149.42 Biweekly Earnings
