Step Increments
Salary increases from one step to another are referred to as "increments." Increments for classified employees are awarded annually through the 8th step on the employee's anniversary date, provided he/she has performed satisfactorily during the preceding evaluation period. Advancement to the 9th step is awarded eighteen months after the preceding anniversary date. The anniversary date for classified employees corresponds to the pay period in which he/she was hired provided there is no leave of absence without pay.
