IGC Recruitment

The Inter Greek Council has deferred recruitment for ALL first semester freshmen. This means that no first semester freshmen are allowed to join a recognized TCNJ Greek letter organization until the Spring of their freshmen year. The IGC has chosen deferred recruitment for one main reason. Becoming a member of a Greek organization is a lifetime commitment, thus choosing to join one should not be taken lightly. The IGC wants freshmen to become acclimated to TCNJ and college life prior to joining one of the chapters. However, just because freshmen can not join first semester does not mean the chapters do not want them to come out to any events. On the contrary, the IGC encourages first semester freshmen and any other interested members of the TCNJ community to come out to as many chapter programs/recruitment events as possible in order to get to know the brothers and sisters of the chapters. That way, when an individual does decide to join an organization and go through the recruitment process, they can make an educated decision for themselves as to what organization is the best fit for them.

Recruitment Events for Fall 2008:

Recruitment Season begins Tuesday, September 9, 2008.  More information will be available soon.

Basic Requirements for joining a Greek letter organization:

1. Must be a fully matriculated TCNJ student.

2. A minimum of a 2.2 GPA and 12 TCNJ credits (for all social fraternities, multicultural chapters, and DSP)

                or

2. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA and 12 TCNJ credits (for all NPC sororities)

3. If a transfer student, you must have a minimum of 30 TCNJ transfer credits.

EXAMPLE: If you went to Rider University for a year and a half and accumulated 40 Rider credits. Then you decided to transfer to TCNJ for the Spring semester of your sophomore year. TCNJ only accepted 28 of your Rider credits as TCNJ credits. Thus, you could not join a Greek chapter at TCNJ until the Fall because you only had 28 TCNJ credits.

4. Must attend Round Robin. (for all NPC sororities)
