The Longest Yard

STARRING
Adam Sandler
Henry Winkler

Adam Sandler has done it again, scoring a touchdown with The Longest Yard. Sandler goes all the way in his portrayal of mildly retarded hydration-distribution-boy Bobby Boucher.

The film begins with a young Bobby as he provides his services for a local university and their powerhouse football squad. However, when Bobby grows older he loses his position and finds a new school, with a struggling squad, to work for.

It is here that this film really explodes into a piece of pure genius. Bobby learns to channel all his anger, and become the ultimate football player, attacking opponents while screaming "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE HIGHLANDER!!!"

This film truly is a rollercoaster-ride for the emotions. You'll laugh, you'll cry and the you'll laugh again...so hard that you'll cry!

Sandler plays the role perfectly, stuttering his lines with a lisp that'll make you have to laugh and say "Oh, those retards. Sure are fun to laugh it." Winkler is also top notch as Coach Klein, and earns the honor of closing the film, which he does by waterskiing over a shark during the team's championship parade.

Also notable is a guest appearance by Olympic Gymnastic coach Bella Carolli, who offers encouragement to Bobby, just when Bobby is afraid he can't go on any further.

If Jesus and God had teamed up to make a movie, they would have made The Longest Yard.

TOUCHDOWN...7 out of 10.
