Glossary of Terms

Below are some important terms that are used in a variety of our computer systems on campus.  Please use these terms as our campus standard in any systems, forms or documentation you develop.

PAWS ID - refers to the six digit student ID number in PAWS.  This replaces TCNJ ID.

Empl ID - refers to the six digit employee ID number in EIS/YESS.

Username - refers to the individual's unique identifier for logging in to systems.  Previously referred to as Unix name, email name, Novell name, User Name, Login name, etc.

Login to - this is the terminology we use when we are asking individuals to sign in to a system.  For example, Login to PAWS to retrieve your PAWS ID.

PIN - Personal Identification Number - field in PAWS that will be used by third party individuals for auxiliary access.
