Communication Initiatives - Library
AY 2005-2006
Regular communication currently takes place between the Dean and the Director for User Support Services. There is also regular communication between the IT support specialist and the Library's IT liaison for identifying issues, communicating any problems or changes, and problem solving.
Different groups of individuals within both departments will meet on a regular basis.
The dean will continue to meet monthly with the Director for User Support Services. In addition to this, a group of library and IT staff will meet to discuss concerns, outstanding issues and upcoming initiatives. The support specialist, the AD for USS, the Assistant Dean for Public Services, the Assistant Dean for Technical Services, and the Systems Librarian will meet on a monthly basis to discuss the above topics. This group will also identify areas that may be of interest to other members of the departments and provide presentations on these topics, at least once a year.
Fall 2005 Update
Monthly meetings started in November. To date we have:
provided a link to the printsense website and an identifier so that students know that machines are printing to printsense enabled printers on all lab and open machines
identified outstanding move-in equipment issues and are working to resolve these
identified the need to replace the HP8100 printer in the reference area
identified and started delivery of computer lab supplies to Access Services
changed IT policy regarding re-imaging a computer. The support specialist for the area will evaluate whether the machine needs to be re-imaged or if it can be fixed without re-imaging.
staffed the open lab in room 002 with trained student consultants
