In collaboration with Public Affairs and NJEdge.net, Information Technology implemented text messaging alerts for Emergency Notifications to augment our current notification plan. Ryan Gladysiewicz, User Support Services Manager with Information Technology, recently presented at the Fourth Annual NJEDge Technology in Education Conference in Plainsboro. His presentation topic was “Deploying a Productivity Suite and Operating System Campus Wide at The College of New Jersey”. The Admissions module for the new Student Administration System is fully operational. Students can now apply for admission, check the status of their application materials, and accept/decline admissions online. Nadine Stern, Vice President for Information Technology and Enrollment Support Services was interviewed by Higher Ed Tech magazine for an article concerning the budget cuts facing IT departments on college campuses. ITS releases its first version of the SOCS "Smart Cache" server. This service dramatically speeds up user access to heavily used modules in SOCS such as Grading, Dropbox and Assessments. |

The Course Catalog, Schedule of Classes and Instructor Workload functionality for the new Student Administration System was moved into production. The Fall 2007 schedule is currently being built in the new system. |

ITS releases a number of new features into SOCS such as letter grade support for the Grading module, "sign-up" events for office hour and presentation scheduling and the ability to share assessments between faculty members. |

Admissions Recruiting. the first piece of the new Student Administration system, implemented. ITS releases its 'Syndication' module into SOCS. The module allows instructors to incorporate dynamic content such as RSS feeds and Podcasts directly into their classes. It also allows instructors to construct their own feeds and podcasts to be used in their classes or anywhere else in the world. |
