 Why do I want to teach?

Ever since I was little, I loved books and reading. Even when I couldn't read to myself, my mother (a second grade schoolteacher) would read aloud to us every night before we'd go to sleep. As I moved from reading books such as A Little Princess and The Baby Sitter's Club series to reading books like Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, my love for reading grew and was sustained throughout my childhood and adolescence. When it came time to consider what I might want to do for a living, teaching students about novels seemed like the perfect choice.  I can't imagine a better job than helping students experience the various characters and events that make up the novel and teaching them to love books the way I do.
