Summer Camp 2006

We had great time in Summer '06!

DAY 1 - CONCRETE AND SOIL LABORATORY

We first measured coarse aggregate, sand, water and cement. Mixed together they will make concrete.

Fresh concrete mixture is ready to fill the molds. Once hardened it will gain significant strength.
We filled several cylinders and also made "hand" paper weights. We will use cylinders to test concrete compressive strength.
We also built a soil retaining wall. Unreinforced it couldn't hold any weight.
We added reinforcement to our wall and it was able to hold one....
two...three...
four...five students!
We also completed grain size analysis on sand used in concrete mixture to make sure it conforms to NJDOT requirements.

DAY 2 - SURVEYING

We spent a day surveying around the campus.
State-of-the-art equipment we used included a GPS surveying system which provides high accuracy data collection.

DAY 3 - FIELD TRIP

We had an exciting day during our field trip.
Don't we look cute in hard hats and safety vests?

DAY 4 - WATER LABORATORY

Water is always fun!
