Engaging the Bible with an Open Mind and Heart
Course Description
The purpose of this course is to encourage students to become aware of their preconceived notions about the Bible as well as to teach different methods of scriptural interpretation including the historical/critical approach, the metaphorical approach, the doctrinal approach and the transformational approach.Included in the course will be an overview of the timeframe for the development of the Bible and some of the historical realities related to specific scripture. Specific topics such as marriage, homosexuality and science will be explored using the different approaches to Biblical interpretation.
