Multicultural New York: The City from its Beginnings to the PresentCourse DescriptionIs New York the capital of the world? How did it become such a great multicultural city? What does it mean to be a New Yorker? These are some of the questions that guide us as we study events that shaped New York’s multicultural history from its beginning to the present. As we explore different periods of the city’s history some of the areas considered are immigration, changing neighborhoods, crime, technology, quality of life, money, power, culture, and art. Seminar time is supplemented with real world experiences.
