People can be a valuable source of information but you need to be aware of the right people to ask for certain types of information. For example, you wouldn't necessarily ask one of your professors where the party is taking place on Saturday night! However, you would be wise to ask a professor, or another expert, a question about their area of scholarly expertise. Be careful, however, about experts who speak on topics outside their special knowledge area.
The right kind of people to ask for help with your college research
  • professors
  • librarians
  • friends or family who are knowledgeable on the subject
