Search Engines

A search engine looks within its own stored record of web pages, looking for matches with the words (or numbers) that you type.

Use search engines to find web pages containing information about:
  • specific terms or phrases (such as American War of Independence or "George Washington")

  • names of organizations or places or schools (such as Washington Crossing Historic Park or Washington College)

  • news, travel and shopping services

  • a seemingly infinite variety of topics by people all over the world

Other search engines include: Ask and HotBot.
