Reading characters and words

Keys 7, 8, and 9 are used to read one word or character at a time. When you are reading bookmarks, these same commands will read a single word, character, or folder. To toggle between these modes, either hold down the plus key and press 8 on the numeric keypad, or just double click the 8.

  • The 7 key on the numeric keypad is used to read the previous character, word, or folder.
  • The 8 key on the numeric keypad is used to read the current character, word, or folder.
  • The 9 key on the numeric keypad is used to read the next character, word, or folder.

Moving to blocks of text and reading the first word of that block

  • Press plus and then 9 on the numeric keypad to move to the next HTML element (usually a paragraph, but sometimes a header, table element, etc.) and read the first word.
