Reserve Policies for Faculty
What information is required for reserves?
- Semester - Course Number (includes section) - Professor's Full Name - Phone
- Call Number - Author & Title
- Additional information (include all additions, deletions, edition changes, etc.)
- Format: "electronic copy," "hard copy," or "both electronic & hard copy."
How do I place books on reserve?
Please provide us with a complete citation of the book. Supplemental books not held at the library may be ordered. Access Services can only order one copy of a book. A second copy may be ordered through your department budget. "Rush Reserves" must be placed on the order cards. Please allow 8 to 10 weeks for delivery.
How do I place articles on reserve?
Please provide us with 2 clear printed copies of the article.
- Single-sided, 8 ½" X 11" paper only
- Provide Full Citation
How do I place media materials on reserve?

What can be reserved?
- Books (that will be used in student assignments)
- Articles (limit of 5 copies for each article)
- Recommended or Supplemental Material
What cannot be reserved?
- Books received through Interlibrary Loan.
- Required Books that students must purchase.
- Materials reserved from the previous semester.
- Personal copies (photocopies) reserved from the previous semester.
- Entire books can not be photocopied and placed on electronic and /or hardcopy reserve.
How long does it take to process reserves?
- 2-3 days for all materials.
- 8-10 weeks for new books ordered.
What are the categories of reserves?
- 3 Hour Loan (Library use only)
- 2 Day Loan (item leaves library for a full 2 days )
- 7 Day Loan (item leaves library for a full 7 days
Materials in folders(personal copies) may not leave the library, unless otherwise noted.
What are my responsibilities as a faculty member?
- Please notify us when material will no longer be needed.
- Personal material that is irreplaceable should not be placed on Reserve.
- Material requiring binders must be provided by faculty member.
- Confirm material listed on course Syllabus is actually on Reserve.
- Faculty members must replace all material not returned to the Access Services.
- Access Services will not be held liable for any lost or stolen material.
