Basic Languages Resources

 

Foreign DVDs and Videos at TCNJ

National and international DVDs and videos are available at Media Services (4th floor, TCNJ Library).

1. Go to TCNJ Library Catalog search screen
2. Click on the Basic search button
3. Click on the button (extreme right-hand side of the screen): choose language and click on "set limits" button. 
4. In the Search for box, enter "foreign films"
5. In the Search in box, select Keyword-Relevance
6. Click Search.

To see most recent films first, at the results screen go to Sort by: box -- choose "Date, newest first.

 

Library Article Databases

Scholarly Journal Articles

• Search for Modern Languages topics in one of the library's article databases: http://www.tcnj.edu/~library/research/subject/modernlanguages.html
• If you already have a citation or know the Title of the Journal, you can check to see if we have a subscription to the journal.

Newspaper Articles

• Search for newspaper articles from around the world in the News & Information database (Campus Research powered by WestLaw).
• Enter search terms then Scroll down to LANGUAGE SOURCES (right-hand column)
• Check the box by Non-English and search
• Optional: Click on the small to select the foreign newspaper you want

Search using keywords in the target langauge, or use English-language terms from the thesaurus

 

Books & Other Library Materials

• Search the TCNJ Library Catalog to find books, recordings, videos, newspapers, magazines, and CD-ROMs in foreign languages or related to Modern Languages.
• You can restrict your search by language: go to the TCNJ Library Catalog page, select Basic Search, then, use the blue "set more limits" button search screen to select a language. 
• TCNJ doesn't have the foreign-langauge book you want?  Look for materials in nearby libraries, and use the Interlibrary Loan service to have it sent to TCNJ Library!
