Background Information

Annual Review of Psychology
Review articles discuss recent developments within a subject area and topics covered vary from year to year.  Authors summarize past and current literature on a topic and identify aspects of the subject that merit future research.  An excellent source for bibliographies.  It is also available in print: General Collection BF30.A614 .  See the cumulative author and chapter titles indexes at the end of the most recent volume.

This page focuses on academic psychology resources including dictionaries, encyclopedias, and biographical sources available in the TCNJ library, as well as resources on the Internet.

Scholarly Articles

Databases

PsycINFO - This is the principle index to the international literature in psychology and related disciplines such as business, education, psychiatry, sociology, and social work. Coverage is from 1887-present. Provides citations to and abstracts from journals, books and book chapters, dissertations, and technical reports.  Click here for some searching tips.

PubMed - Provides access to Medline, the National Library of Medicine's database of citations and abstracts for the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, health care systems, and related areas such as psychiatry and psychology.

Sociological Abstracts - This is the principle index to the literature in sociology and related disciplines.  It is an international database that provides citations to and abstracts from journals, books, dissertations, and conference papers.

ERIC - Provides citations and abstracts from ERIC documents and a broad range of education periodicals.

Social Sciences Abstracts (Wilson Web) - Provides indexing, abstracting, and selected fulltext to articles in over 350 leading English language periodicals covering anthropology, criminology, psychology, political science, women's studies, and sociology.  Searches can be limited to peer reviewed, i.e., scholarly sources.

Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost) - Multidisciplinary database that provides citations and abstracts to over 4,000 periodicals.  Approximately two-thirds of the articles are available fulltext. Searches can be limited to peer reviewed, i.e., scholarly sources.

Locating a Copy of the Article

The Library subscribes to numerous psychology journal titles. Try the following to obtain the articles you want.
. To determine if the Library has access electronically to a particular journal, browse this list of journal titles .
. Search the TCNJ Library Catalog to determine if the Library owns a print copy of the journal.
. If the journal title is not available in either print or electronic format, you can request  a copy of the article through Interlibrary Loan
