Lions’ EMS Advisor Minutes

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

Advisor (Holly)

-         LEMS members must enter and exit health services through the front door only.

-         Dr. Vetrano has offered to train members to use the Epipen. However, Epipens cost about $50 each, and our current budget cannot afford them.

o       Epipens expire, and the money we invest may go to waste if they are not used.

Campus Police

-         Campus Police agreed to state the nature of the call over the radio during daytime incidents.

Chief (George)

-         Meeting with Jim Norfleet went well.

o       He would like to know what we propose to enhance the organization and our necessities to function.

§         He did not discuss our actual budget and how we can maintain the organization under such a budget.

o       Although we are a volunteer organization, we still may propose member benefits.

-         Our 10 year anniversary will be in February.

-         The situation with Res Life is better.

Deputy Chief (Tom P.)

-         Tom drafted a letter to campus police about communication between campus police and LEMS.

Logistics (Mina)

-         Many of the radios are broken, even newer ones.

o       We cannot afford to buy new ones. Mina will call the manufacturer to see if they are under warranty.

Equipment (Steve)

-         Steve would like to purchase large plastic bins to use for the closet.

Training (Mark)

-         Would like to host a MCI drill (i.e. bleacher collapse).

o       A company will come in and tell us how we performed during the drill. This may be useful in that we can show SFB the materials we need to perform.

-         Core 13 will be held in February.

VP MS SE (Emily)

-         We will postpone the blood drive scheduled for EMS week until February (10 year anniversary).

Publicity (Chris)

-         Chris created flyers to post regarding the discount cards. The flyers list the discounts that can be received if purchased.
