Minutes:

Kevin Mnich (Chief/President)

  • Thanked squad for their great response to calls so far this year
  • For the flu shot clinic tomorrow, LEMS members are considered as a part of the “high risk” category so you can get the shot if you choose to
  • When dealing with a call, all LEMS members should make sure that confidentiality is held, so in terms of the call report, only the on-coming ambulance should get a copy of the report and no one else (including Campus Police)

Kristin Caruso (Training/Personnel Captain)

·         Introduced Brian Webb and the drill began

Overview of the Bloodborne Pathogens drill:

·         Brian covered what bloodborne pathogens are

·         Explained how AIDS and Hepatitis B work and how they can spread from person to person

·         Outlined what to do as a LEMS member if you suspect that you have been exposed to a bloodborne pathogen

·         Precautions one should take as a LEMS member when going on a call to prevent an exposure

·         Explained how to clean up during a call where blood is present

·         Had a member present how to treat a patient with an open wound and explained some key procedures one should follow in order to ensure that there is no exposure
