Minutes for LEMS General Meeting on January 26, 2005

Minutes:

 

Kevin Mnich (Chief/President)

·         Held nominations for the position of Vice President of Member Services

·         Caroline Botros was nominated

·         Since only one member was nominated, Caroline Botros was elected the position using the unanimous vote

·         Sign-up sheet was passed around to determine which members are interested in obtaining LEMS’s Priority Housing spots for next year

·         Proposed plan to hold a Six Flags fundraiser

·         Members will work an 8-hour shift for which LEMS will be compensated in return

·         After which, members will be allowed to go on the rides for free for the remainder of the day

·         Additional details, including the date for the event, will be decided soon

·         A CPR class will be held on the weekend of Feb 5th – 6th for all members

·         It will be a full class so members can receive new certification as well as re‑certification (recerts will only need to attend on Sunday)

·         The class will cost $15 and will start at 9AM on each day

·         An EMT class will be run near the school from April to June; details for which will be given during the next meeting

·         Nominations will be held for the Line/Executive Board positions in a few weeks, so details regarding the requirements for each position will be given out during the next meeting

 

Caroline Vizthum (Deputy Chief)

·         A current copy of the duty schedule is online on the LEMS website

·         On Kristin’s behalf, orientation information was distributed to new members

·         Also, Kristin plans to set up another CEU class for this semester; possible classes were discussed and many members showed interested in attending a Core 13 CEU class if it were brought on campus

 

Kristin Caruso (Training/Personnel Captain)

·         Not present but passed on her news through Caroline

 

Aedin Fortune (Equipment Officer & Executive Vice President)

·         Thanked the membership for taking care of the equipment and properly returning it to the closet as requested

·         Oxygen tanks are filled

·         Face masks are available for members that can be utilized when on-call if they are sick with a cold or come upon patients that are, in order to help reduce the spread of disease

 

Charlie Concodora (Logistics Officer)

  • Working on preparing the new uniforms for use by the membership

 

Ricky Blasi (Treasurer)

  • LEMS received a $100 donation for performing stand-by services
  • Sweatshirts were distributed to all members who had paid in advance

 

Nimit Saraiya (Secretary)

  • Nothing to report

 

Doug Smith (Fundraising Chair)

·         Explained a fundraising opportunity for LEMS through TCNJ’s The Loop bus service and members were asked to volunteer for shifts

 

Ray Shupak (Growth Chair)

·         Was not present at the meeting

 

Bruce Cheong (Publicity Chair/Webmaster)

·         Planning to delegate out the pages to the LEMS website to members in the publicity committee

 

NEW BUSINESS

Kevin Mnich (Chief/President)

·         Discussed possible plans to get a “bunk room” for LEMS where members can stay overnight when they are on-call and equipment can be stored

·         A possible location on campus may be in the Administrative Services Building from which members would have transportation to get to calls, such as a golf cart or in a police car

·         A majority of the membership expressed an interest in getting a LEMS bunk room so further work will now be done to obtain a room
