Minutes for LEMS General Meeting/Drill on March 30, 2005

Minutes:

 

Due to the lack of members, the meeting/drill was not officially opened.

 

Kevin Mnich (Past Chief/President)

  • Asked for LEMS members who are willing to volunteer for Senior Week this year     (May 9th – May 13th)
  • Asked for three LEMS members who are EMT’s to participate during Welcome Week next year – this entails moving in Monday August 22, 2005.
  • Asked for LEMS members who can act as standbys at this year’s graduation ceremony -  Friday May 13th starting 7 A.M.
  • Requested and found a volunteer to make photocopies of LEMS pamphlets at Kinko’s for next year’s Welcome Week LEMS publicity
  • Set up dates for CPR and First Aid courses to be offered before the end of this semester (Spring 2005)
  • Crew chief radios that are not working will be sent in to the factory soon for repair on warrantee.

 

Doug Smith (Current Chief/President)

  • Requested crew chiefs who can cover a shift this weekend for more information, email Doug Smith.
  • If anyone has experienced any problems with patient care handover on campus, please email Doug Smith smith46@tcnj.edu with the story of how the patient was jeopardized.  (minimizing HIPAA violations)
  • Gave an update on the status of acquiring a new LEMS room either in the Student Center or the Cromwell basement to use as a center of operations
  • Requested that all members of LEMS wear their LEMS paraphernalia (T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) this Sunday, Spring Day in order to publicize the organization

 

Bruce Cheong (Current Deputy Chief)

  • Intended to speak about next year’s schedule but decided to send an email update due to the lack of members

 

Kristin Caruso (Past Training/Personnel Captain)

  • Requested that anyone else who was interested in the Ropes and Knots class who hasn’t yet signed up to please email Kristin caruso4@tcnj.edu

 

Carolyn Botros (Past Vice President for Member Services and Special Events)

  • Intended to give an update on The End-of-the-Year LEMS Banquet but decided to send a mass email due to the lack of members

 

DRILL:

  • Postponed due to lack of members
  • Kevin Mnich (Current Training/Personnel Captain) had planned an Improving Medical Assessment drill in which stations with different medical scenarios would be set up
  • The focus of the drill was to improve assessment skills and to help EMTs integrate their text-based knowledge about assessment with real-life scenarios
