The Department of Mathematics and Statistics supports The College of New Jersey’s mission of service to the people of New Jersey and the central role that the School of Science plays in that mission by preparing students to become lifelong learners, thoughtful leaders, good citizens, and compassionate human beings. It supports the leadership of the School of Science for assuring that every undergraduate student achieves the goals and outcomes of the general education program by offering courses which provide a mathematical foundation in a student’s major as well as exposure to a variety of mathematical topics. It contributes to developing the ability of students to speak persuasively, write clearly, think critically, understanding ethical-decision making, and recognize their responsibilities as leaders and citizens by requiring students to analyze problems, choose appropriate solution methods and present solutions in a clear and logical form either in writing or orally.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers exemplary undergraduate programs in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, and Statistics. By offering a balance of core courses and electives these programs prepare students for successful careers and for admission into superior graduate and professional schools.

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics offers programs in statistics, mathematics, and mathematics teaching, with degrees in the following areas:
