Improving YOUR Memory

 

Use these tips to help improve your memory

 

  • Use memory strategies
  • Pay attention to what you are trying to remember
  • Avoid distractions/interruptions
    • Go to a quiet place
    • Turn off the television and radio
    • Avoid strenuous activities
    • Relax
    • Try not to get sidetracked
  • Use your circadian rhythms
  • Repetition
    • Repeat things out loud
  • Elaboration
    • Apply meaning to what you want to remember
    • Perhaps conjure an image or link meaningless information to an image
  • Practice a Routine
    • Do the same things at the same thime each day
    • Set alarms
  • Use external memory aids such as written reminders, memos, etc.
