What kinds of things are forgotten?

Common memory complaints include:

  • Forgetting names
  • Losing objects
  • Forgetting appointments
  • Forgetting to do a routine task (e.g., taking medication).

Research shows that there is very little relationship between reported memory difficulties and actual problems. Older adults are worried about their memory problems disproportionately more than their performance would justify.
