-F.A.Q.-

What is the research about?

We are examining how memory changes with normal healthy aging. We are currently comparing what types of information older adults remember to determine if memory in older adults is similar to younger adults.

What do I have to do?

This varies from study to study. However, you will general see or hear a list of items and then be asked to recall them (either written or on the computer). If you are an older adult from the community you will receive a free, brief vision and hearing test after the study.

How long does it take?

The memory test takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, and the vision and hearing test takes approximately 15 minutes

How do I get compensated?

If you are a student at The College of New Jersey you will receive 1 PIPER credit for every 30 minutes. If you are a older adult from the community you will receive $10 for the session.

Where do I go?

Our lab is located in the Social Sciences Building Basement Room 3 at The College of New Jersey. (Directions)

Where can I park?

There is a parking lot located in front of Loser Hall where the lab staff will meet you

Will you be able to diagnose my memory?

Our lab does not do any clinical testing to check for memory impairment. The purpose of the session is simply to examine memory in healthy adults for research purposes.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. There is a lounge area in which the person can wait. Or, the person can participate if eligible. (Qualifiations).

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

To cancel email us at memory@tcnj.edu or call 609-771-3448.

Students! Don't forget:

If you are a student from The College of New Jersey, receiving PIPER credit for the experiment, you must cancel no later than 90 minutes before the experiment. If you fail to do so, you will be penalized 1 PIPER credit.
