Assignment 1, one approach
Drawing from the story, its themes and the visual images that the story conjures up in you, create a 360 degree image (view example). You can do this by using VR Worx, an application on our computers, Flash MX. To use VR Worx, check out one of the departments digital cameras and a tripod, you will need a tripod with degree marks on it (if one is not available, I will bring one next week). Take digital stills at every 30 degrees. Open the stills in Photoshop or Illustrator to add graphical elements -- text or images, create collages. Then, import the stills into VR Worx and follow the steps to sew together the 360 degree image, you may export this as an image or as a quicktime. If you prefer use the folder that I will mail to you upon request and you may create the 360 degree interactive image in Flash. You may also choose to create the diorama using a series of print-outs.
