Assignment 3:

This project is Flash-based. You may work collaboratively with one other person or alone. You have two choices:
  1. Create a vector based animation using entirely Flash or importing art work from Illustrator to animate in Flash. The second part of this project will ask you to add interactivity to the animation. Examples:

  2. Produce an interactive presentation using any combination of stills, video, vector and or bitmap art work series of videos. All content of this Flash environment should relate to one another to establish a cohesive project that may take the form of an adventure game or instructional/educational series. The second part of this project will ask you to present the content in a cohesive interactive manner. Examples:

Due October 21st is a fully developed proposal with artwork that presents the aesthetic to be employed. The proposal should include the following: a narrative description of the project - if you are doing an animation, create a rough storyboard for the animation with at least one fully developed character. If you are doing an interactive presentation, create a mockup of the navigation and sections of the presentation with either photo stills (assemble in Flash as a linear presentation) or video clips, review instructions for a slideshow.

Recommended approach to vector animation:
Brainstorm and sketch out a short narrative; this may be a reinterpretation of a story or an entirely new fantastic tale. The project will be a vector animation. Find one person to collaborate with, each person is responsible for the design and animation of one character.
Due Oct. 21: One fully sketched character, hand drawn, you may jump ahead and compose the character in Flash. Think ahead, and compose the various parts that will animate into their own layer that may be transformed into a symbol such as: Eyeballs; Eyes; Eyebrows; Mouth; Nose; Upper Arm; Fore Arm; Hands; Body; Legs; Feet.
By establishing these various parts of the body you will be able to create more detailed animation. The features listed above are specific to anthropomorphic characters, the shapes that you establish as individual symbols may vary according to the type of character that you are creating.
Everyone should be as expressive and creative as possible. These characters should be detailed, this means including shading, personalized characteristics, the shape and size of all features, create a sense of lighting...
Making use of perspective each team member must create two alternate backgrounds of which at least one will be incorporated into the final animation.

Final Version of Project 3 is due November 4th With collaborator sketch out the animation by creating a detailed storyboard or an initial interactive presentation liking content in a cohesive manner.
For your character create at least three eye movements that express entirely different emotions, i.e. surprise, sleepiness, excitement, curiosity... Eyes are incredibly expressive features, regardless of the type of character you are working on, I expect the use of eyes.
Also create a series of animated movements with the character such as walking, turning the body and head, waving arms...Assemble the final animation (you may choose to include some interactive, i.e. perhaps the viewer may interact with a character or choose a different background...). For the interactive presentation add navigation and transition between images/video/content.
