| Siobhan Sabino Semester 3 - Summer 2010 07/23/10:
(Blog Entry 25)
CAFE v3.0, the product of a year's worth of research, has been finished, packaged, and is available to download. Recap of what I've done this summer.
06/25/10:
(Blog Entry 24)
Timeline for what I've done so far this summer, and what I'll still be doing.
Semester 2 - Spring 2010 04/23/10:
(Blog Entry 23)
I'll be doing a poster presentation next week for Celebration of Student Achievement at TCNJ.
04/16/10:
(Blog Entry 22)
Testing out the permissions now since nothing comes easy.
04/02-09/10:
I was not in the country during this time, nor were any major errors reported to me when I returned,
so I'm nearly certain that nothing exploded while I was gone.
03/26/10:
We've been testing to make sure that checkPermissions now works in its new version. Since I don't
feel this is really all that exciting I haven't written a blog about it and have few things to say
about it beyond, we've been testing.
03/19/10:
(Blog Entry 21)
I condensed all of the different checkPermission functions from six pages into one function that,
after comments and error checking, is one line long.
03/05/10:
(Blog Entry 20)
SigCsE here we come! (And an ER diagram.)
02/26/10:
(Blog Entry 19)
The testing begins; departmentalized.
02/19/10:
(Blog Entry 18)
Only one (admittedly large) file left to update the SQL in and the backend is done.
02/12/10:
(Blog Entry 17)
The last of the changes to the database occur. The updating of the code continues.
02/05/10:
(Blog Entry 16)
More major changes to the database. These will have to be reflected in the code before February 15th.
From there I feel confident CAFE will be ready for packaging.
01/29/10:
(Blog Entry 15)
Started going through the database's ER diagram to make see if this could help give clues to any problems
we have found in CAFE to fix.
01/22/10:
(Blog Entry 14)
Showing off what we did for the semester.
Semester 1 - Fall 2009 12/03/09:
(Blog Entry 13)
1. Finalized goals. 2. Got assignments for the long Winter Break ahead.
11/19/09:
(Blog Entry 12)
I have a new assignment: organizing the media. Not physically doing it, but working on a well-documented
means that can be implemented in CAFE.
11/12/09:
(Blog Entry 11)
Some familiar faces are joining us once again. This is helping to move the project forward much quicker,
and helping to boost my confidence in editing the system.
11/05/09:
(Blog Entry 10)
Attended a lecture given by @jack, more legally known as Jack Dorsey. It was very eye-opening and renewed
my love of technology and, most importantly, why I'm sticking with computer science.
10/29/09:
(Blog Entry 9)
Getting into those nitty-gritty parts of the code, like the mysterious SQL files that I get to explore.
Also will be some time well spent with an old buddy, Google.
10/22/09:
(Blog Entry 8)
The latest version of CAFE suddenly stopped working for the school, causing a rush to isolate the problem.
Due to isolating the problem, CAFE is no longer stable and this just adds more that needs to be stabilized.
10/15/09:
(Blog Entry 7)
Editing code.
10/08/09:
(Blog Entry 6)
Check earlier errors in CAFE; find and fix those errors. Finish running through how the system works from the user end
so that when the code is cleaned up will have a point of reference for how the system should run.
09/24/09:
(Blog Entry 5)
Reading background information on the purpose of CAFE;
"Stuck in the Shallow End" by Jane Margolis gives a good idea on what trying to accomplish through
our system, so reading that.
09/17/09:
(Blog Entry 4)
Read original proposal. Report errors found in CAFE to fix for stable release.
09/10/09:
(Blog Entry 3)
Met with former researchers on the project; familiarize with CAFE and the changes made since last used.
09/03/09:
(Blog Entry 2)
Familiarize with TRAC and the Wiki used for the project. First viewing of the code will be modifying.
08/27/09:
(Blog Entry 1)
Orientaiton; discuss timeline and project goals.
