Conversation Hour Contract for Students in Spanish
Please read carefully, sign, and return to your professor by the second week of classes.
As a Conversation Hour student, you are expected to adhere to the following rules:
- Every Conversation Hour Student for Spanish is expected to attend every Conversation Hour class in which the student is enrolled. Make-ups are not allowed. In case of an emergency (medical, documented) you need to request a make-up form the coordinator Tulia Jimenez-Vergara at tjimenez@tcnj.edu. If the student is expecting to be late or absent, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the Spanish CH coordinator and the Conversation Hour Leader, ahead of time, to notify them that he/she is expecting to be late and/or miss class.
- Conversation Hour Leaders are expected to conduct every class. If a student is aware that his/her Conversation Hour Leader is not present to teach the class, it is the student’s responsibility to report this within 24 hours to the coordinator Tulia Jimenez-Vergara at tjimenez@tcnj.edu. If the absence is not reported within 24 hours, the students in the Conversation Hour will lose credit toward their grade in this part of the course.
- It is the student’s responsibility to remember their TCNJ ID#, Course Code and Course Section Number, and Professor. If ANY of these fields are left blank in the attendance sheet, the student will lose credit toward his/her grade in this part of the course.
- It is the student’s responsibility to participate in every Conversation Hour he/she attends. If the student does not participate, the student will lose credit toward his/her overall grade in his/her Spanish Course.
- The Spanish Conversation Hours are conducted by experience instructors, senior students, Spanish Teaching major, or a native speaker of Spanish. All the Conversation Hour Leaders took, or are taking, a training course to prepare for teaching the Conversation Hours, a Foreign Language Teaching Methodology class or Advanced Oral Proficiency with Dr. Joseph Goebel. Spanish CH’s students are expected to treat their instructors and leaders with respect.
- Please be aware that cellular phones are not allowed in the Conversation Hour classroom. Please turn them off before you enter the room.
