Microchips...Does Your Insurance Company Cover Them?
By Maria Montroni, Director of Consumer Awareness, CAMI 3/30/2009
I have been receiving emails from people around the world, interested in the Everchip™ and wondering how to get it, where to get it, and whether we at CAMI recommend getting it, and how much it costs.

While you can learn more about our stance on actually receiving the chip by reading through our website, I've put together some information regarding the actual costs of implantation. First and foremost, when considering microchip implantation, make sure you're familiar with what you're buying- do your research! Second, find out from your insurance company by searching the website to see if the chip is covered under your plan, and find out what circumstances are covered. Some insurance plans only cover certain procedures, and then only if it's a life or death situation!

Insurance companies don't want to pay out for something that may stop working in a few years, so they're very hesitant to provide coverage. If your insurance company does not provide coverage, then you may want to think twice or three times about having the chip implanted! There are so many risks and unknowns with this technology and in this unstable financial market, if something goes wrong (medically or identity-wise), you may not have the cash on hand to correct the problem.  This may bring about complications to not only your wallet, but your personal life as well! Implantation is a big deal...think hard about it and do the research you need to!

As always, feel free to contact us with questions or use the  message boards!
