James Hala
Adjunct Instructor of Music (Trumpet)
B.M., Music Education, Temple University
Mr. James Hala joined the adjunct music faculty at The College of New Jersey in 2004 where he teaches:
- MUS 211: Intermediate Private Trumpet Lessons
- MUS 311: Advanced Private Trumpet Lessons
- MUS 411: Advanced Private Trumpet Lessons
He is also a trumpet instructor at Haddonfield School of Performing Arts where several of his students have placed first in regional, state and national competitions. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Hala served as Instructor of Trumpet at West Chester University, The Wilmington Music School, Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts and Immaculata College.
As a performer, Mr. Hala is a member and director of the Westminster Brass. This quintet has concertized for more than 25 years, performing in numerous major cities in the United States and Canada and producing six recordings. He is also currently Principal and Soloist with the Ocean City (NJ) Pops Orchestra with whom he has performed in three recordings and a Bermuda tour and is Substitute and Extra with the Philadelphia Orchestra with whom he has two recordings and two European tours to his credit. In addition, Mr. Hala has performed with the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Brass Quintet, the 307th Army Band in Willow Grove, PA, and the US Army Band in Fort Knox, KY.
Mr. Hala studied under Seymour Rosenfeld, Second Trumpet, Philadelphia Orchestra; Gerard Schwarz, Co-Principal Trumpet, New York Philharmonic; and Frank Kaderabek, Principal Trumpet, Philadelphia Orchestra.
