The College of New Jersey Bands includes three concert ensembles, jazz
ensembles, pep bands, and a proliferation of smaller ensembles. Each of
the bands and jazz ensembles requires a placement audition.
The premier ensemble- the Wind Ensemble- performs regularly at state and
regional music events such as the Music Educators National Conference conventions,
College Band Directors National Association conventions, and meetings of
the National Band Association. As an outreach to school programs throughout
the East, the ensemble tours to schools where they conduct clinics and
master classes. These culminate in joint performances of the high school
bands and the Wind Ensemble.

American Record Guide, America's critical guide to professional recordings, has praised both the
Wind Ensemble and its conductor's work. The Wind Ensemble exudes "a
feeling of complete confidence and competence... this reading won me over.
Conductor William Silvester's sense of shape, space, and balance makes
something fresh and new... All the more impressive."
In recognition of its superb performance record, the Wind Ensemble was
invited to join with the Russian Army Band to tour major performance halls
in England, including Europe's newest, the 2,500-seat Bridgewater Hall
in Manchester, and The Royal Hall in Stoke-on-Trent. This college-funded
tour demonstrates The College's commitment to regular touring opportunities.
It is just one of the many reasons why The College of New Jersey Band Program
has grown into one of the finest in the United States.
