The Wind Ensemble is the premier wind organization at The College of New Jersey. The 43-member ensemble is composed entirely of undergraduate students and has performed at state and regional music events such as the Music Educators National Conference conventions, College Band Directors National Association conventions, and meetings of the National Band Association. As an outreach to school programs throughout the East, the ensemble tours to schools where they conduct clinics and master classes. These culminate in joint performances of the high school bands and the Wind Ensemble.

The Wind Ensemble has received superlative accolades from composers and conductors alike for its outstanding renditions of their music, including CD recordings commissioned by Alfred Reed and Kalmus (Master's) Publishing. James Curnow, Alfred Reed, Bruce Yurko, Vaclav Nelhybel, Jack Stamp, Warren Barker, Ron Nelson, Claude T. Smith, and David Uber, among others, have added their names to this impressive list. About his "Dance Movements," Philip Sparke said, "I have listened with immense pleasure to your recording. It really is very fine indeed- the third movement has an enormous nobility about it and is the best I've heard it."

This past year, the Wind Ensemble performed in an exchange concert with the Dartmouth College Wind Symphony. The concert featured the chair of the music department, Dr. Gary Fienberg, performing on trumpet. The ensemble’s spring concert featured voice professor Mr. Robert Guarino. These concerts gave the wind ensemble an opportunity to work and perform with professional musicians.

In Fall 2009, the Wind Ensemble will perform two concerts. The first will feature a number of smaller chamber works for winds while the second will feature works for the full wind ensemble, with faculty tuba soloist Brian Brown. The wind ensemble also plans to host a concerto competition for high school students as well as a reed-making seminar in Spring 2010.
