Sodium Hydroxide - NaOH (10N)

NOTE: This reaction is extremely exothermic. Be careful.

Reagents (for 1L):

  • NaOH pellets (VWR, VW1508-01) - 400g
  • DI Water - 1 L

Procedure:

  1. Dissolve the NaOH pellets slowly in about 800 mls of DI water with constant stirring.
  2. Once the NaOH pellets have dissolved, adjust the final volume to 1 L.
