The National Council of Negro Women at The College of New Jersey echoes the sentiments of our beloved national organization in its mission to improve the quality of lives, inclusive and not limited to minority women here on The College campus.

The purpose of The National Council of Negro Women, here at The College of New Jersey, is to help women improve the quality of life for themselves and their communities. The National Council of Negro Women seeks to fill the gaps, which exist in our college community, particularly by meeting the concerns of minority women.

NCNW at The College of New Jersey, translates its philosophy of education, community service and advocacy through activities designed to promote a number of benefits for its members including:

o        Disseminating information about issues affecting African American women and their communities.

o        Promoting and advocating for healthy lifestyles and behaviors through wellness projects.

o        Sponsoring events such as NCNW Week that seek to build on our strengths and traditional values.

o        Training and supporting women and youth in career development and community leadership.

o        Supporting economic development and stability.

o        Providing mentoring and educational support to youth.

o        Supporting activist initiatives that aim to improve the quality of life for women everywhere.
